Kampala-Italy's Eni is still interested in developing oil fields in Uganda, despite a failed attempt to gain a foothold in the east African country earlier this year, Uganda's oil minister Hilary Onek said November 30. The company is expecting to meet with President Yoweri Museveni to discuss its role in the development of the nascent oil and gas sector, Onek told Platts. "There are many companies that are approaching us. Eni is one of them, we have a procedure to follow to select the suitable ones when the time comes," he said.
