Petronas, Japex see Gharraf output in 2012

Tokyo-Malaysia's Petronas and its partner Japan's Japex are targeting production startup from Iraq's Gharraf field at a rate of 50,000 b/d in 2012, a year ahead of the original target and above initial estimates, a Japex official said January 19. The consortium's latest estimate of first commercial production from Gharraf, which contains 850 million barrels of crude oil reserves, is larger than the initial production target of 35,000 b/d set by the Iraqi oil ministry in its tender documents, and earlier than the original 2013 estimated start-up date, the official said.
