Cape Town-Shell remains committed to its onshore activities in Nigeria, a company spokesman said February 3, despite the sale last week of three onshore licenses and speculation the company would shift all its focus in the country to deepwater projects.Shell, for decades Nigeria's largest foreign oil operator by production, is pumping just one third of its production capacity of around 1 million b/d, largely due to the security challenges in the oil-rich Niger Delta and inadequate funding of joint venture projects with the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
