Shtokman FEED work complete, timeline still uncertain

Moscow-Russian gas giant Gazprom completed the front end engineering and design (FEED) work for the giant Shtokman gas field in the Barents Sea in late 2009, a senior project official said February 3, but the timeline for field development remains uncertain.The fall in demand for foreign gas in the US, Shtokman's main target market, as a result of the dramatic rise in US domestic shale gas production has caused Gazprom to review plans for the project, the first phase of which is being developed together with France's Total and Norway's Statoil (ON 1/28).
