Beijing cuts heat in public buildings to save natural gas

Singapore-Beijing has cut the heating to 4,900 public buildings as of January 5 in a bid to conserve its inventory of natural gas, after a large drawdown in stocks to combat the winter chill, the official Xinhua news agency reported January 6. The temperature of minus 15.6 degrees Celsius January 5 meant it was the coldest day in the Chinese capital since 1986.
