BCPL funds $1.1 billion petrochemical plan

Singapore-India's Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited has secured financing for a Rupees 54.61 billion ($1.13 billion) gas cracker and polymer project in the northeastern state of Assam, the company said October 1. BCPL, incorporated in January 2007 as a joint venture between state-run gas utility GAIL (70%), upstream minnow Oil India Limited (10%), state-run Numaligarh Refinery Limited (10%), and the government of Assam (10%), is funding the petrochemical project with a debt-to-equity ratio of 2:1.
