EPA cancels fracking hearings in New York

Washington-The Environmental Protection Agency’s on-again, off-again hearings in upstate New York on the impact of hydraulic fracturing are off again--for now. After a day of confusion amid conflicting reports, EPA on August 10 canceled public hearings set for August 12 after a university backed out of hosting them over the price EPA wanted to pay and another city’s city sports arena said it couldn’t be ready on two days’ notice. EPA said it will reschedule the meetings in upstate New York in September at a time and location to be determined.
