Given the criticism it already receives from environmentalists, the Canadian oil sands industry may consider it piling on when a Roman Catholic bishop in Alberta questions the morality of oil sands development. In a January 25 pastoral letter, Bishop Luc Bouchard wrote: “The problem lies in racing ahead (with development) despite the fact that serious environmental problems remain.”
