Anchorage-TransCanada is getting serious interest in an LNG alternative to its all-land Alaska natural gas pipeline project as the company prepares for a 2010 initial open season, a senior company manager told an Alaska legislative committee June 23. TransCanada Vice President Tony Palmer said potential shippers have expressed interest in up to 3 Bcf/d of gas for an LNG project at Valdez, on Alaska's southern coast, which is up from the 2 Bcf/d TransCanada initially planned to offer as an LNG alternative to the pipeline from northern Alaska.
