Amman, Jordan-Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani, undeterred by the dismal outcome of the country's first oil and gas licensing round, has invited multinationals to a roadshow in Istanbul on August 25 for a second auction of prime acreage after sacking the most vociferous opponent of his policies. Informed sources tell Platts that Shahris-tani has fired Fiadh Naema Hassan, director general of the South Oil Company, the state-owned regional company in charge of oil production from Iraq's southern oil fields, including the giant Rumaila field.
