Anadarko becomes latest to slash its capex budget

Houston-Large independent Anadarko Petroleum joined the industry trend of cost reduction February 11 with the release of a 2009 capital spending budget 8% to 18% below 2008’s at a range of $4 billion to $4.5 billion. Despite the decline, the Houston-based company still believes it will increase production sales volumes this year by as much as 3% to a total of 208 million to 212 million barrels of oil equivalent.
