Hong Kong—The Chinese government will take further steps to guard against infla- tion by stabilizing the prices of refined oil products, natural gas and electricity “in the near term,” and plans to impose more severe penalties on those it believes guilty of driving up prices of food and other necessities through hoarding or cheating.
