Pertamina seeks control of Natuna block

Jakarta—Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has urged the government to let it take control of a major offshore gas block previously held by ExxonMobil. The government terminated ExxonMobil’s contract for the Natuna D-Alpha gas field last year, citing the company’s failure to come up with a plan to commercialize the reserves and a feasibility study for field development in time for a contract renewal (ON 10/11/06).
