Shell awards Technip contract for Perdido hub in Gulf of Mexico

Houston-French engineering giant Technip has won the contract to build the unprecedented deepwater spar system planned to allow Shell Offshore to develop the Lower Tertiary resources of the Perdido Fold Belt in the US Gulf of Mexico. Neither Technip nor Shell has revealed cost estimates for the project, known as the Perdido Regional Host (ON 10/27). But Technip confirmed the contract in a statement November 17 from its Paris office.
