KMG EP Completes Sale of Its 51% Stake In Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries

Astana— KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (KMG EP) has completed the sale of its 51% interest in Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. (KPI) to United Chemical Co. for about $33.5-million. United Chemical, established at the request of the Kazakhstan president to help develop the national petrochemical industry, has been managing KMG EP's holding in KPI since 2009. KMG EP explained that the sale is part of its 2020 company strategy, which includes divesting petrochemical and other non-core assets.
