摘要

WHEN DOOM AND GLOOM DOMINATES THE HEADLINES AND YOU START WORRYING about job security, you could bury your head in the sand or start thinking about reassessing your skills and CV. JCB, which has taken a considerable knock from the downturn in the construction sector, decided to face the music and kick-start the new year with a huge employee training programme. The positive approach was even picked up by Skills secretary John Denham, who praised it as an example of good practice during a House of Commons debate, adding that firms that invested in training were more likely to survive the recession and be ready when an upturn came around.
