Shares in London-listed Afren closed down 5% on Monday after the company said average production in 2011 was 5,500 b/d lower than its target of 25,000 b/d. The company said that the rate was reflective of a longer-than-anticipated period of maintenance at its Ebok field in Nigeria — but that the 2011 exit rate at the field was 53,200 b/d. In 2012, it expects average production net to the company to be between 42,000 b/d and 46,000 b/d.
