EIA: US Oil Imports to Fall

US oil imports will fall steadily over the next two decades from around 9.2 million barrels per day in 2010 to 7.2 million b/d in 2030, according to a new long-term energy outlook published by the US government. The latest Annual Energy Outlook from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates US oil imports at 36% of total liquid fuels consumption in 2035, down from current levels of about 50% and peak levels of around 60% in 2005-06 when imports were running at just over 10 million b/d.
