US Mulls Fuel Efficiency Target

As the US Environmental Protection Agency works on long-term fuel efficiency targets for passenger vehicles built between 2017 and 2025, the White House has hinted that it may shoot for a combined average target of 56.2 miles per gallon (mpg) for cars and light trucks by 2025. The EPA has published a notice of intent to finalize fuel efficiency rules for the 2017-25 model years and it is is expected to announce the specifics of its plan this fall.
