Woodmac Says Coal to Dominate in Asia

Contrary to the expectations of most, coal -and not gas -will be the preferred and dominant fuel in power generation in Southeast Asia by 2030 as the region adds new power capacity to meet burgeoning economic growth, consultant Wood Mackenzie predicts. It says in a new report that this is because gas reserves in Southeast Asia are declining, and LNG will be too expensive for a region where gas prices are subsidized.
