Brazil Seeks Bids for 174 Blocks

Brazil's oil regulator, the ANP, has announced it will hold an auction for 174 blocks in frontier basins during the second half of this year. However, the bid round will not include any acreage in Brazil's giant offshore subsalt region. The National Council for Energy Policy (CNPE), which sets the government's hydrocarbons policy, approved the auction plan during a meeting Thursday in Brasilia. The ANP says the process will focus on Brazil's offshore equatorial margin, which spans several of the country's northern states.
