Secretive Russian oil major Surgutneftegas said Monday that net profit in the second quarter rose by 31% year-on-year to 62.51 billion rubles ($2.16 billion) thanks to higher oil prices. Russia's fourth-largest oil producer reported first-half net income of 77.78 billion rubles, having posted a profit of 15.27 billion rubles for the first quarter. Second-quarter revenues came in at 188.24 billion rubles, up 35% from year-earlier levels (IOD Aug.2'10).
