Nigerian militants claimed responsibility late Wednesday for an attack on Eni affiliate Agip's Clough Creek oil flowstation in the Ekeremor district of Bayelsa state in the southern Niger Delta. The rebel Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (Mend) said in an emailed statement that its fighters launched the attack Tuesday night, while local reports quoted a military spokesman as saying an oil wellhead was blown up during the raid. There were no known casualties. Eni was not available for comment on Thursday.
