Iraq has made progress toward paying off its Rumaila mega-project, run by BP and partner China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), despite hiccups in Baghdad's oil field development program, Iraqi and industry sources say. The foreign duo is owed about $1.5 billion for work in 2010 that hoisted output from the southern oil field by 130,000 barrels per day to 1.2 million b/d. And BP lifted its first instalment of crude as payment in kind last Friday, the sources confirmed.
