Dominion plans to close Virginia ash ponds

Utility Dominion plans to close all of its coal ash ponds in Virginia to comply with state and federal disposal requirements. The timeline for the closures will depend on when the company, which is the largest gas and power provider in Virginia, gets permits from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and other agencies, it said last week. It has ash ponds at its Chesapeake Energy Center and the Bremo, Chesterfiveld and Possum Point power stations.
