摘要

sleep apnea is the most common form of sleep disordered breathing. It is highly prevalent (2-10% of the population across the age spectrum), and it is associated with multiple and important morbid consequences including metabolic disturbances (21, 50, 52, 78). One of the major perturbations of sleep apnea is the occurrence of recurrent hypoxic events, i.e., high-frequency intermittent hypoxia (IH_H), resulting from periodic collapse of the upper airway during sleep.
