Indian Technical Textiles Industry to Scale Up to ? 1,58,000 Crore by 2016

Mumbai: Indiantechnical textileindustry to soar to a value of ? 1,58,000 crore by 2016. According to A B Joshi, Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India at the third Techtextil India Symposiumsaid that the industry has grown to ? 63,000 crores in 2011-12 from ? 43,000 crores in 2007-08 recording all per cent growth per annum. Emphasising on the growing sectors within the Technical Textile industry in India that include Medical Textiles, Geo Textiles, Protective Textiles and Agricultural Textiles, the government in its five-year plan has allocated funds for the development of Centre's of Excellence (CoE) for the technical textile sectors.
