The Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) has asked the government to impose antidumping duties on burgeoning imports of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from China, in a bid to protect domestic manufacturers.India had, until recently, produced 70% of its bulk drug needs, but the figure is now said to have fallen to 30-40%.
