Demand for industrial & institutional cleaning chemicals in US to exceed US10-bn by 2012: Report

According to a new study from US-based industry research firm Freedonia Group Inc, US demand for industrial and institutional (I&I) cleaning chemicals will grow at the rate of 3.4% annually to over US 10-bn in 2012. The leading product categories - general purpose cleaners, floor care products and warewashing detergents - will continue to rely on fairly conventional product formulations that offer cost-effective cleaning and satisfy environmental & workplace safety regulations. The report reveals that novel formulations incorporating plant-derived raw materials and other biodegradable components would register above average growth, but will remain a relatively small segment of the overall market.
