BP Plans 3 Billion Indiana Refinery Upgrade

BP says it will invest 3 billion to reconfigure and upgrade its Whiting,IN refinery so that it can accommodate heavy Canadian crude oil feedstock.BP says the project has the potential to increase its production of motor fuels by 15%,which is about 1.7 million additional gallons of gasoline and diesel per day.The refinery currently produces about 4.5 billion gals/year of transportation fuels,which BP says is enough to supply more than 5 million vehicles."After our investment,the refinery will have the potential to supply motor fuels to about 6 million automobiles," says Bob Malone,chairman and president of BP America.
