Since July, production cut announcements have reduced expected 2016 mined copper supply by more than 530kt. Producers areimplementing cuts and suspensions at high-cost mines due to weak prices for copper and by-products such as cobalt and molybdenum. Notall of the cuts are solely attributed to metal prices; dry weather in Papua New Guinea has resulted in Ok Tedi being put on care andmaintenance, while power availability is an issue in Zambia and the DRC. There may be more cuts to come.
