Design and implementation features of fully-variable dev ices for full suppression of arcing ground faults in 6 kV networks, which are built using a plunger arc-suppression coil, are described. The general arrangement of a fully-variable autocompensator is presented. A fundamentally new system for extreme-type resonance tuning of the device is described, which employs ((periodic)) modulation of the resonance circuit rather than a tuning parameter. A method of compensating an active ground fault current using a negative resistor is outlined. A technique for implementing an inertia-free inductor is given. An approach to ensuring asymptotic stability of the control loops under ground fault conditions is presented. The results of these investigations enabled test samples of the above-mentioned devices to be developed, which were tailored for the particular conditions of coal production industry.
