摘要

For calculation of the wear crater width and depth as well as of the local darkish bright spot depth on tool face the formulas known in cutting theory are analyzed and their disadvantages are disclosed. For crater parameters calculation selection of Maxwell mechanical model and rheological properties of solid bodies being deformed are analyzed. Calculation example of crater parameters which are correlated with experimental data known in literature is given. Calculation error was no more than 25%. Obtained formulas allow by means PC to analyze the wear crater parameters with regard to cutting speed, thickness of layer to be cut, tool rake and mechanical properties of carbon steels.
