A schematic Map generation system for pedestrians using VML/XML

There are several types of route guidance map for pedestrians. Sometimes a schematic map is particularly useful because of its simplicity. We have been engaged in the development of navigation system for pedestrians and proposed several systems. In order to generate a schematic map, cutting-out the necessary and sufficient region of a map and its deformation are quite desirable. To accomplish this aim, the authors have proposed a method in which route guidance XML file is generated first and then a necessarily cot-out and deformed map is reconstructed using the XMI file.
