A method is presented to determine the effects of creep and shrinkage on the time-dependent in-service behaviour of cracked, macro-synthetic fibre reinforced concrete cross-sections containing conventional bar reinforcement. The cross-section is subjected to sustained bending moment and axial force. The method is used to assess the effects of the fibres on both the instantaneous and time-dependent stresses and deformations. The inclusion of fibres in the concrete improves both the strength and stiffness of the cross-section after cracking and significantly reduces the maximum crack widths when used in combination with conventional reinforcing bars. The analysis can be easily modified to cover all types of fibres, including steel fibres.
