Development of a Composite Desulphurizing Agent Containing Aluminum

A new composite desulphurizing agent containing aluminum is developed and the effects of optical basicity and sulphur capacity on desulphurizing efficiency are discussed. The proper composition of desulphurizing agent is 4:1 CaO/Al molar ratio, 10 percent CaF_2 content and 20 percent NaCl content. The desulphurizing agent of Al-CaO-NaCl-CaF_2 can ensure high desulphurizing efficiency, and modify and remove inclusions. Impact toughness of steel can be increased markedly. The desulphurizing rate with flux E_1 is discussed and the rate equation is obtained.
