Attractive Catalysts for the Direct Hydroxylation of Benzene to Phenol

摘要

Exciting work to attempt the direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol was reviewed. Each catalyst system and its reaction mechanism were discussed by classifying oxidants, N_2O, H_2O_2, O_2/H_2 mixture, and O_2. Common problems to prevent a high yield of phenol in the catalyst systems were summarized and discussed.
