Present Status and Future Potential of World Oil and Gas Resources in the New Century

摘要

This paper presents the latest assessment result of world oil and gas resources. The proved oil reserves is estimated about 33.3 years long by the 2000 year production, which amounts about 30.3 percent of the ultimately recoverable resources of 3 trillion barrels. In addition the reserves growth due to technical and economic innovation may extend by 17.2 years. In case of natural gas, the R/P ratios are estimated about 44.8 years for the proved reserves and additional 16.4 years for the reserves growth. The latter part reviews present status and future potential of unconventional oils and gases such as Orinoco tar, oil sand, oil shale, tight sand gas, coal bed methane, shale gas and methane hydrate.
