MORPHOLOGY OF MOUTHPART AND FEEDING OF EULIMNOGAMMARUS CYANEUS (CRUSTACEA, AMPHIPODA), AN INHABITANT OF THE LAKE BAIKAL NEARSHORE ZONE

摘要

The food spectrum and morphology of the mouth apparatus are described for Eulimnogammarus cyaneus (Dybowsky 1874) (Crustacea, Amphipoda), a constant inhabitant of the Lake Baikal nearshore zone. This species is well adapted to unstable environmental conditions due to some morphological peculiarities of its body and appendages, its ability to migrate, as well as to flexibility in feeding. E. cyaneus is classified as an omnivorous opportunist by the composition of food and as a detritophage-collector and necrophage-collector by type of feeding.
