Demersal and demersal-pelagic animals are the main food Parapenaeus longirostris. Being a predator-collector, the shrimps of 40-49 mm long begin to attack preys. So, its food spectrum becomes rather wide, Two major (fish and crustaceans) and one additional (polychaetes) food groups are distinguished. They are characteristic of shrimps of various sexes and size. The same division is recorded in different seasons, at various depths and latitudes, though the proportion of the groups varies. The variability of the food spectrum is related to the age and sex of shrimps, on the one hand, and to the food availability in the investigated areas in different time periods, on the other hand.
