We have so far studied space-time coding for M-QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), and proposed space-time codes designed by trace criterion, that is the Euclidean distance. In this study, we apply the method to coded M-QAM using convolutional codes. We search rate 1/2 convolutional codes' which have the best minimum Euclidean free distances. Moreover, we construct new punctured convolutional codes rate 3/4, 4/5 and 5/6 from new rate 1/2 convolutional codes. Finally, we examine the bit error rate performance of the codes by computer simulations.
