Producing oxygen free copper wirerod and oxygen free based copper alloy wirerod on a SCR system

The Southwire Continuous Rod (SCR) system which was invented in the United States in the 1960's is the standard for continuous manufacturing of ETP wirerod. Mitsubishi Materials, redesigned some of the equipment and modified the production process of the SCR system and succeeded in producing oxygen free copper wirerod and oxygen free based copper alloy wirerod (ROX series) on a SCR system. The usual process for making oxygen free copper wirerod is by extruding oxygen free copper billets, DIP forming or other costly procedures. These processes have volume limitations and are expensive batch type production methods. Our ROX series products are continuously cast, can be supplied in coil sizes up to 10 tons each and are more modestly priced. ROX characteristic features are comparative with standard products and we expect that our ROX series will enjoy increasing demand for a variety of end uses.
