摘要

A spread ring was employed in spreading extrusion in order to extrude aluminum profiles with widths larger than the container diameter. Metal-flow behavior was confirmed by varying spread ring height and profile width in extrusion tests and by finite-element method (FEM) simulation. On reducing spread ring height or increasing profile width, a large influence of surface wall friction on metal flow and a reduction in profile lateral section exit speed are observed. In addition increases in the volume of metal supplied from profile central sections to lateral sections as well as increases in the size of the profile lateral section plastic deformation region are elucidated both experimentally and by simulation. From these results, the analytical accuracy of the simulation techniques in this report and the usability of the simulation have been confirmed.
