スギ·ヒノキ花粉非飛散期に鼻炎症状を呈した患者に対する第2世代抗ヒスタミン薬(塩酸オロパタジン)の治療効果の検討

It is a common knowledge that the number of patients in increasing with nasal symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis during Japanese ceder and cypress pollen dispersal season. On the other hand, it's a fact that the patients with nasal symptoms of allergic rhinitis exist in large numbers during pollen release off-season. Antihistamine and various therapeutic agents are widely medicated for the treatments of allergic rhinitis. In the study, the therapeutic effects of olopatadine hydrochloride, a perennial rhinitis were determined. Twenty-four patients (11 male and 13 female) over 15 years old (mean age 35.5+-13.3 years), who visited our clinic or hospital from July to December in 2006 and complained of nasal symptoms, were enrolled in this study. Olopatadine hydrochloride was administered orally at 5 mg twice daily. After 1-week treatment of olopatadine hydrochloride, all scores for nasal symptoms (sneezing, runny nose and nasal obstruction), symptom severity and clinical futures of nasal mucosa were observed to be significantly reduced as compared with the pre-treatment, and these effects of this agent on nasal symptoms showed rapidly after the initiation of treatment and persisted for four weeks, regardless of types of this disease. These results suggested that olopatadine hydrochloride had the strong and immediate effects on nasal symptoms in all types of rhinitis during Japanese ceder and cypress pollen dispersal off-season.
