The effect of water temperature on the oxygen consumption rate and limiting oxygen level for existence of the blacktip grouper, Epinephelus fasciatus was investigated on individuals from 200 to 745 g in body weight. Water temperature for the experiment ranged from 12.5 to 30.0 deg C with 2.50 deg C intervals. The oxygen consumption rate (R: ml/kg/h) of the blacktip grouper increased exponentially with an increase in water temperature (T: deg C), following the equation, R=5.3611*1.0913~T. On the other hand, the relationship of oxygen consumption rate per individual (R'=R* W: ml/ind./h) from 15.0 to 25.0 deg C as it related to body weight (W: kg) and wataer temperature (T: deg C) could be expressed by the following equation, R'=25.4585W+1.3027T-22.9348. The limiting oxygen level for existence was ranged from 0.26 to 0.93 ml/l.
