摘要

Fluorescence characteristics of 2-hydroxyquinoline (2-HQ) in aprotic and protic solvents at different pH conditions were investigated by using steady state and nanosecond time-resolved spectroscopic techniques. Various structural forms of 2-HQ have been identified and are described in the respective schemes. In aqueous solution at pH~l and pH~14 the decay shows monoexponential fit with respective decay times t ~ 4.5 ns and t ~ 0.5 ns due to presence of cationic and anionic forms of 2-HQ.
