摘要

It is a non-invasive medical electronic device for monitoring the blood oxygenation of patients that enable prompt recognition of hypoxemia. It measures the oxygen saturation in arterial blood (SaO_2), the percentage of hemoglobin saturated with oxygen. The device provides valuable data regarding blood oxygenation and the information is obtained easily, continuously and noninvasively. In this system Nellcor probe DS-100A has been used as a sensor to be mounted on the patient's finger consists of two LEDs, one for the visible red (660 nm) wavelength and another for the infra red (940 nm) wavelength on one side of the sensor and the other side has a photo-detector. System design is based on MSP 430 microcontroller with keyboard for setting the alarm limits of oxygen saturation & pulse rate, date & time and sending trend data to PC for analysis. It has various alarms facilities for high and low limits of SaO_2 & pulse rate, sensor is not connected with the system and it is accidentally disconnected from finger. System has been tested and calibrated by using SpO_2 simulator in the whole range of oxygen saturation and pulse rate within ±2% accuracy of SaO_2 and pulse rate within ±3%. It is both mains and battery operated with backup time of about 12 hours.
