An attempt has been made to have a check on the presence of security personal at nights and holidays with the help of a system, developed using MCS-51 series Microcontroller and interfaced with a Real Time Clock (RTC). This system. in addition to displaying the current time, gives an audio alarm after every hour. The security on duty is asked to press a switch in response to this alarm. The time when he presses the switch, is recorded in the NVRAM of the RTC. This record of time may be printed out on the printer or may be down loaded on Personal Computer (PC) at any convenient time.
