The finite element method can be used for an approximate solution of axisymmetric field problems by truncating the unbounded domain or by applying various techniques of coupling finite region of interest with the remaining for region, which is properly modeled. A simple numerical technique for solving axisymmetric field problems is presented. In this paper, axisymmetric regions are mapped on to bounded domains by using the appropriate analytic functions, finite element analysis is then implemented in the transformed domain to obtain the field problem solutions. The proposed method is simple, extremely efficient and economical, particularly for the solution of unbounded region axisymmetric field problems.
