IC 555 timer based digital capacitance/dielectric constant meter

An attempt has been made to fabricate a circuit with a dual function; (i) As a digital capacitance meter, and (ii) As a digital dielectric constant meter for liquids, The circuit involves IC 555 timer oscillator, a diode network and a digital panel meter using ICL 7107. The high output current and wide frequency range of IC 555 are utilized here to measure capacitances. The method of measurement of small capacitances can be used to measure the dielectric constant of materials in general and very conveniently of liquids in particular.
